In 1986, Stephanie and Sheldon sensed God’s call to missions. With their 9 week old daughter, they headed overseas where they served with the Evangelical Covenant Church of America in the Democratic Republic of Congo. During her four years there, Stephanie became proficient in the local language, Lingala, and assisted with women’s ministries, accounting and worked in the hospital pharmacy. She never lost her passion for those who suffer and, with Sheldon, continued to work in relief and development, having worked extensively in DRC as well as Ghana, Haiti, Kenya, Niger, Sierra Leone and Ukraine. Together, they have written and managed numerous grants from the Canadian International Development Agency.
Prior to joining World Hope Canada, Stephanie gave leadership to The Salvation Army in Kemptville, ON as the Director of Community Services. She became the Executive Director here at World Hope Canada in 2010, bringing with her a wealth of international development experience as well as a passion to serve those who are vulnerable and down-trodden. She has dedicated her time providing day to day analysis and assessment to each field operating within WHC. Her strategic leadership and timely communication sets the overall tone for the organization with her reputation for excellence. She is thrilled to serve the Lord and others through World Hope Canada.
She has three grown children and three darling little granddaughters.

Sheldon has an entrepreneurial passion to use his farm boy upbringing to change the world! His love of old technology became a real asset the moment he set foot in Africa. He spent much of his time designing 'appropriate technology' responses to the many needs.
He has a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and after spending almost 4 years living in Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of Congo, he also got a degree in International Development.
Sheldon writes and manages World Hope Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, formerly Canadian International Development Agency, projects. He brings almost 30 years of experience working in international development having worked in Haiti, Ghana, Kenya, Niger, Ukraine, Sierra Leone and Democratic Republic of Congo. He has a gift of listening and understanding the needs of our partners and how we can best assist them. His experience, expertise and passion are a true asset to World Hope Canada.
In the spring of 2016, Sheldon became the Associate Director of World Hope Canada.

Trained and experienced in aquaculture, Peter is intent on applying those skills and knowledge in poverty alleviation. He travelled to Congo and Mozambique in 2008 and this fueled his desire to help. He is still stirred by memories of those visits, the people that he met, and the work we could do.
Peter headed to Congo again in 2012 with Sheldon Gilmer and when he returned home, he knew exactly what to do. Working with local Congolese leadership, Fish for Hope, an aqua-cultural training program, was born.
"So here I am, embarked on an exciting journey of what I perceive to be God's design for my life. Some people may be asking the 'why' question. I simply feel compelled. I can't explain it other than I am passionate about aquaculture and about living a life pleasing to God."

Kerry & Carole Allison
If you know Kerry & Carole Allison Kerry and Carole Allison at all, then you know that Kerry is a going concern. After he retired from his position as an educator, they felt God calling them to serve in Ukraine. They have been doing just that since 2004 when they first went to Ukraine to build the addition onto Hope House! Since then, they have added greatly to the infrastructure there building a garage, apartment and a bunk house to help house teams!
While in Ukraine, Carole helps teach English and cooking to the girls at Hope House. She also plays a support role to Kerry which allows him to do all that he does.
Kerry has worked very closely with Sergiy, our director in Ukraine, helping him to develop skills to grow a strong and effective organization. Kerry is also leading the construction of Hope House II, a second home for at-risk girls.
Kerry & Carole completed their ministry in Ukraine in 2015 but their hearts still remain in Ukraine as they still speak at local churches about the Ukraine ministry.
Carole Tanney has spent her life caring for others. First as a nurse, then as a mother to two children and eventually as the Chairperson of Project Reach Out Canada, a humanitarian organization working in Ghana bringing compassionate assistance to those in need. She has travelled to Ghana 17 times over the years. She has led nine teams, including medical/dental teams and vision teams. Carole says, “The needs are great and the opportunity is open both in Ghana and now also in the new mission in Burkina Faso. Until the Lord tarries or He closes the door for me, I will continue to serve Him in this field.”
In June 2014, World Hope Canada began a partnership with Project Reach Out Ghana. Carole is the volunteer liaison to Project Reach Out Ghana and she continues to be an enthusiastic fundraiser for the work in Ghana and beyond!
