Bahamas Volunteers

Donors, Churches, and Skilled Volunteers Needed to Help Rebuild The Bahamas

About the Mission

Hurricane Dorian ripped through the Bahamas on September 1, 2019, and altered the lives of thousands. World Hope International (WHI) was one of the first organizations on the ground and, working through over 60 amazing volunteers, provided clean drinking water for 90 days.

We are now returning to rebuild two Wesleyan Churches around Freeport, Grand Bahama, and homes in their surrounding communities. Not only will we be helping restore homes in some of the most underserved communities on the island, but we will be doing so in a manner that helps spread healing into those communities’ lives.

We are looking for 15 church teams to join us from January-April 2020. Each team will have 8-10 members.  Team members should be experienced in construction or able to jump in and help with construction tasks.  Each team member needs to be physically able to work for 5-days straight and lift at least 50 lbs.

How to Volunteer

If your church or other group is interested in this opportunity, please have a notional team leader complete an application using this Managed Missions link. Select T2005B Rebuilding after Hurricane Dorian.  Contact Susan Park, Short-term team trip logistics coordinator (email: susanpark@worldhope.org) if you have any questions.

Partner churches who are unable to send teams are encouraged to raise project funds to support overall reconstruction activities.  Understandably, reconstruction work in this environment is not without cost challenges. For donations in the US please contact Dan Irvine: DanIrvine@WorldHope.org. For Canadian groups please contact Heather Bandy: Heather.Bandy@WorldHope.org.

Finding Hope in Ukraine

We are working to ensure that basic needs are being met and that those who have fled Ukraine and those who have stayed behind have access to help and hope.

AN ORGANIZATION YOU CAN TRUST.

Spending of World Hope International (Canada) funds is confined to Board approved projects. Funds designated towards a project are used as designated, with the understanding that when the need for that project has been met or cannot be completed for reasons determined by the Board, the remaining funds designated will be used where needed most.
