End Poverty Day 2020: Surmounting Setbacks
Description
This year, we didn’t celebrate progress on #EndPoverty Day. Instead, it was a moment to learn about the increased poverty risks as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to focus on supporting a #ResilientRecovery.
Watch this special #EndPoverty Day event from The World Bank’s 2020 Annual Meetings. In addition to many distinguished panelists, the event includes a feature video on the IFC-funded COVID-19 Support for Adolescent Girls soap making project that World Hope International is implementing in Sierra Leone.
The event focused on the opportunity to accelerate action toward the goal of a resilient recovery post-COVID-19. It explored the obstacles to poverty reduction, including conflict and climate change, and focused on the path ahead for developing countries, emphasizing the urgent need for both the public and private sectors to initiate a long-term approach to the recovery.
