2020 was a wild ride, but a new year finally is here! After talking to people across the world I understand we all are weary and ready for a change away from this global pandemic. This new year, 2021, matters greatly – and we are going to see transformation take place around the world!
We are in this together.
We are so excited about the transformation that happened last year and can’t wait to see how we can make a difference again in 2021. If anything, 2020 showed us that we need to work as a team and collaborate across national, cultural, and linguistic barriers. These next 12 months will challenge us to see if we can push even further outside of our comfort zone to bring opportunity, dignity, and hope around the world. By joining the World Hope team in 2021, you are proactively joining a community that is committed to seeing change take place here and around the world!
Vulnerable people suffer even more during tumultuous times.
Uncertain times affect us all, but for those who were already vulnerable and struggling, often without any kind of safety net, these tumultuous times hit even harder.
Since COVID-19 shocked the globe in 2020, even more women and children have been trafficked and abused. Schools have been closed, hunger and food scarcity has grown, support systems have been removed, and those who are hurting need advocacy and protection now more than ever. We can’t forget that these vulnerable individuals are here among us, even in our very own communities.
Their suffering matters to God, and must be at the forefront of our minds as well. It is so easy to look internally at our own personal situations but we must remember our calling as Christians to look outward at the needs of others around the world so we can be a light of hope wherever and however we are able
Hope is vital for survival.
Hope is powerful. This year we have seen the hope of a vaccine, the hope of humankind coming together to bring compassion and relief in challenging situations, and the hope that we can get through a global pandemic. When there is hope, it is like a breath of fresh air is breathed into our challenging reality.
As Christians, we have a hope to share and so we must continue to proactively show compassion to the most vulnerable, and provide tools of change so they can help themselves and their communities. I believe that 2021 will be a year of hope.
This year we are celebrating 25 years since the founding of World Hope International. We are grateful that Dr. Jo Anne Lyon founded this organization that has been offering opportunity, dignity and hope for 25 years. I am so thankful that you are on our team as we light the world with hope together. Our work has only begun and I cannot wait to see what the next 25 will hold for us!
“Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.” Isaiah 58:10
Today, World Hope International is working in 20+ countries around the world to provide those in need with opportunity, dignity, and hope so they can possess the tools for change in themselves, their family and their community.
To support these efforts, you can make a gift to The Hope Fund, which allows us to respond where and when it matters and continue projects centered on clean water & energy, protection, global health, and social enterprises.
