A Major Step in Healthcare
Since 1948, L’Hôpital Wesleyen de La Gônave has been serving the people Haiti. Founded by the Wesleyan Mission, it has been a place of hope, healing, and faith for many years. In partnership with GivePower (provider of solar power), WHI provided the hospital with access to clean water. Recently, an oxygen plant was completed allowing the teams to provide another critical component for many patients who need care.
A New Initiative
A new and vital initiative is being undertaken at the Wesleyen Hospital in Haiti: a blood bank. This project marks a major step forward for the health and wellbeing of Haitians. Once completed, this facility will serve patients and departments across the country.
The importance of a blood bank for the hospital cannot be overstated. Emergency surgeries, complicated childbirths, severe anemia cases, and accident victims will all benefit from having blood available in the hospital, saving more lives in Haiti.
No more waiting to see if they can secure the blood that is needed, patients will have access to this vital resource.

A Public Appeal
In August 2025, the hospital hosted a press conference to announce and discuss the construction of the blood bank. This was an opportune time to raise awareness of the need for blood donors. Donating blood is simple and saves lives.
The event closed with a powerful appeal: “Every blood donor is a hero.” The hospital called on every eligible citizen to participate, reminding them that a single blood donation can save up to three lives. Construction is underway to provide crucial blood services in the near future. You can be part of ensuring patients receive the care they need by giving a gift to The Hope Fund.
