Don’t miss the virtual launch of the Sierra Leone Program Against Child Trafficking, co-hosted by the African Programming and Research Initiative to End Slavery (APRIES) at the University of Georgia School of Social Work, the U.S. Department of State Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, the U.S. Embassy in Sierra Leone, and World Hope International!

This virtual launch event will detail the collaboration between the African Programming and Research Initiative to End Slavery (APRIES) and World Hope International, supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, to implement a new, impactful program for child trafficking survivors in Sierra Leone. The Vice President of Sierra Leone, the Honorable Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, will give the keynote address.

At this virtual event, the details of this programming will be shared. The program focuses on victims from Kenema, Kono, and Kailahun in the Eastern Province. APRIES will also present preliminary findings of our innovative research to estimate the prevalence of child trafficking in these three districts.

This program launch marks an important step towards justice for child trafficking survivors in Sierra Leone. The Government of Sierra Leone has accomplished invaluable work in the fight against human trafficking within its borders. Trafficking survivors are gaining access to justice due to the tireless efforts of multiple ministries and individuals.
