Standing Against Human Trafficking

by | Jul 28, 2024 | Acting in Faith, Countering Human Trafficking & Gender-Based Violence, Protection

Slavery is an evil that continues to plague our world. Data gathered from 155 countries shows that the most common form of human trafficking is sexual exploitation accounting for 79% of all reported trafficking cases and another 18% of reported cases are forced labour (you can read the report here).

These startling statistics raise the alarm that something must be done to combat human trafficking. Every survivor matters. Every person who learns how to recognize and report this evil helps to eradicate it. Together, we can turn the tide.

What World Hope is Doing

One of World Hope’s pillars of transformational development is Protection and Education. This pillar encompasses anti-trafficking initiatives in Sierra Leone, Cambodia, Liberia, and The Philippines.

  • The Recovery Center is staffed with counsellors and therapists providing therapy to survivors, helping them hope for their futures.
  • Counsellors and therapists who work to educate families and communities so survivors can safely be reintegrated into their communities (when it is safe).
  • Outreach and educational opportunities for communities, schools, and families to recognize, report and prevent trafficking in persons.

I can’t believe this abuse is happening online. I’m so concerned about my children because I didn’t know they were at risk on their phone. Now that I am aware, I will share it with my children so they can protect themselves online.

What I Can Do

You can be a part of the eradication of this evil. Giving financially to anti-trafficking helps ensure that funding needed to continue and expand this important protection work will continue. You can give a one-time gift or set up monthly giving either online or by calling our office.

You can commit to pray regularly for this area of protection work. Pray for the survivors, the counsellors, the therapist, the police and support agencies, pray that more people will be freed and protected from traffickers. Pray for Jesus to transform the hearts of those who perpetuate and participate in this evil act.

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
