Haiti Hospital Provides Hope
Founded in 1948 by the Wesleyan Mission, the La Gonâve Wesleyen hospital has provided basic health services through resident medical staff and visiting teams of specialists. This faith-based hospital is managed by World Hope International (WHI) and partners with the local Wesleyan church and Global Partners to care for the sick, promote preventative medicine, and train caregivers and technicians.
*Over 70 years of medical & health services have been provided to the residents of La Gonâve. In 2023 alone, 13,897 people were seen and treated.
Oxygen: The Breath of Life
The hospital has faced many challenges in procuring oxygen, mainly due to the dangerous situation in Haiti. Thanks to generous donors and partners, the hospital is now self-sufficient in terms of oxygen supply. The recently installed system can produce ten, 220-pound bottles of oxygen every 24 hours, ensuring the hospital always has enough oxygen for patients.
When La Gonâve Wesleyen Hospital received a call from a hospital in Port-au-Prince requesting a few bottles of life-saving oxygen, they had enough to spare. They were able to deliver it, saving the lives of patients in need beyond the walls of the hospital. This is the power of partnership.
Transform Their Health, Transform Their Future
Equipped to provide for their own patients’ needs allows La Gonâve Wesleyen Hospital to respond to the needs of others. Jesus calls us to come follow Him. We, in turn, are asked to take what we have been so graciously given to impact the lives of others. The hospital is being the hands and feet of Jesus, reaching out to those around them and sharing hope and holiness in a dark and dangerous place.
This Christmas season, we are focusing on transformation that happens through Global Health initiatives. Donations to The Hope Fund are used to strategically strengthen programs and bring hope to vulnerable children and their families.
