The Fortress Ministry Theft

Below is a message from Thabsile Thwala, Director of The Fortress Ministry in Swaziland, Africa.

“It is with great sadness to inform you that our office at the Fortress was broken into and almost electrical equipment in the office were stolen except for the printers. For the past two weeks our telephone has not been working which made communication difficult as it was. And now our WIFI has been stolen with all the other laptop and computers which makes work and communication even more difficult. It feels like we have gone back to where we were sometime back”.

To support Thabsile and help her to re-purchase the stolen equipment, please click here or call the office at 613.482.1499 or mail your cheque in labelled “Fortress Ministry Theft”

Urgent Prayer for Congo

Peace in Congo is always tenuous but new violence in the Kananga area (South Eastern Congo) between government soldiers and rebel groups has grown in intensity over the last months.  Recently, two UN workers have been kidnapped and 40 police officers have been murdered.

We work in this area with an organization called Butoke.  Dr Cecile, an eighty year old Belgium doctor, along with her team provide critical health care and orphan care along with other activities such as assisting communities obtain clean water. They are in danger!

We would ask that you take a few minutes to pray for her, her team and the population as they go through very difficult times.  They may be required to evacuate but they have no funds for this.  If you would like to donate to this emergency please mark your donation “Butoke Emergency Fund” or click here to donate online.

#worldwater day 2017

Join The Tap

Hurricane Sandy hit Haiti and the Babaco region back in 2011 wreaking havoc and decimating the clean water source along with the irrigation system that helped crops to grow. Rubble from the nearby mountains flooded Babaco so that many homes were buried and the course of the river changed.

The water was once abundant and flowed into the village. Now, the water has dried up or changed its course away from Babaco.

The people of the village now use the old waterway as a road and women and children walk for miles to collect water from the stream that runs in its place, where laundry is done and livestock are fed.

The village has been suffering from malnutrition, extreme poverty and water-borne illnesses.

But God overcame huge obstacles and in January of 2017, we hit water! A well was drilled and a 25 gpm pump for irrigation and drinking water was installed!

Now, a village of 2,000 people has access to clean, safe drinking water, and many now have water for growing their crops!

So much water was hit, that with God’s love and your help, we will install a 100 GPM pump, providing water to thousands of more people, even beyond Babaco!

God overwhelmed us at every step with his goodness and help. We look forward to partnering with you today to bring clean water to thousands more!

Beulah Bonanza and a Spring Soirée

World Hope Canada’s annual dinner was held in two locations this year:  Beulah Camp and Moncton Wesleyan Church.  Both events had a tremendous attendance and we were able to raise over $19,000!  Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to plan these two events,  who cooked, set-up, prayed and attended.  It is because of you, that we exist!

Below are some photos of the events.  We hope you enjoy and we’ll see you next spring in the same place!
